The Helpful Third Wheel

We enjoy working with individuals, investors, families, and couples. Each profile brings its own familiar dynamic and patterns. Working with a couple who is looking to buy a home has a different dynamic than helping a single person for example. When we are helping a couple in their home search, sometimes we feel like a helpful third wheel. A third voice and perspective on the team. Sometimes we act as a bridge between two valid but differing perspectives.

It's rewarding to help couples make one of the biggest decisions of their lives together.

Even if the two people are broadly aligned, usually there will be at least some differences in priorities and approaches. Sometimes the differences are stark and sometimes they are minor. Often both parties will need to compromise a little. For a decision to be successful, neither party can compromise to the point of being unhappy in the home.

Often these differences in perspectives reflect the different personalities and ultimately strengths the individuals bring to their relationship. One person may be more focused on the budget (mortgage preapproval, budget and costs of renovations). The other person may be more focused on the vision and potential of each home to suit their needs, lifestyle and aesthetics. They may not see the decision exactly in the same way. However their different perspectives reflect their unique strengths. Utilizing both partners strengths can create a better decision making team. We can be a helpful addition to that decision making team. We bring our own strengths as real estate professionals with our own life experiences. Ideally we help the couple utilize both of their individual strengths, while we bridge their points of view and provide our own insights.

We can't help with matters of the heart, and many disagreements go way beyond our expertise but we enjoy being a helpful member of the team that buys a home. If you know of a couple that could use a helpful third wheel with their search, we would love to connect!
